Mike Fulenwider, president and CEO of Fulenwider Enterprises Inc., in Morganton, will speak at an economic summit focusing on western North Carolina. The AdvantageWest Economic Summit: Pathways to a New Economy starts with a reception at 5:30 p.m. March 29 at Diana Wortham Theatre, inside Pack Place, at 2 S. Pack Square, in downtown Asheville.  

If we are to have an adjudication on the Pontiff's complicity or innocence in the matter of cover-ups or evasion by the Catholic Church in the sexual-abuse scandals that have rocked it, I'm not sure I'd go to Christopher Hitchens to get it. Aston Villa suffered a blow in the race for fourth place in the Premier League after they could only draw 2-2 with a spirited Wolves side at Villa Park. Age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, March 18, 2010. She was born on January 25, 1931 in Saginaw County, the daughter of the late Delbert and Evelyn (Bredamus) Louch. She married William Quaderer on November 10, 1951.

When there are NO scientific facts (only a poorly thought-out 19th century theory) behind claims of man-caused global warming, one has to wonder why many prominent scientists support it. There are probably a variety of reasons but, given the Left-lean of academe, the opportunity it offers for more control over the despised "masses" is the obvious explanation. In some cases, however, there may be other forces at work.
